What is upendra dwivedi?

Upendra Dwivedi is a highly decorated officer in the <a href="https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/Indian%20Army">Indian Army</a>, currently serving as the <a href="https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/Chief%20of%20Army%20Staff">Chief of Army Staff</a> (COAS). He assumed office on June 30, 2024, succeeding General Manoj Pande. Prior to this appointment, he served as the <a href="https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/Vice%20Chief%20of%20Army%20Staff">Vice Chief of Army Staff</a>.

Dwivedi has a distinguished career spanning nearly four decades. He was commissioned into the 18th Battalion, Jammu & Kashmir Rifles. He has held various important command and staff appointments, including command of a battalion and a brigade in the <a href="https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/Jammu%20and%20Kashmir">Jammu and Kashmir</a> region, and as the <a href="https://www.wikiwhat.page/kavramlar/Director%20General%20Infantry">Director General Infantry</a>. He also commanded the Northern Command, which is responsible for the operational control of forces along the borders with China and Pakistan.

Dwivedi is an alumnus of the National Defence College and the US Army War College. He has been awarded several decorations for his service, including the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, and the Sena Medal.
